Thoughts on the novel Bread Givers
When reading the novel Bread Givers I find that much of the book is based off of a male dominant society. Since the cultivation of man the male has always been the leading role in a family. This is no different in the Orthodox Jewish religion that the main characters in Bread Givers family. Most of the problems are derived from the father's fanatical studies of the Torah and his belief of a male dominated household.
